Communities are on the front line when it comes to building a more sustainable future — a future in which our needs are met in a manner that protects the Earth's living systems; ensures clean air, land and water; prevents dangerous climate change; and provides for a safe and just global community.

The Pembina Foundation recognizes the importance of actions taken by municipalities and Aboriginal communities within Canada, as well as communities in developing countries, to improve their environmental, social and economic well-being. The foundation seeks to support efforts to enhance community sustainability through initiatives that build local capacity to make informed decisions regarding energy issues.
